We’re honored to meet Director Giulio Gentile, who shows us every aspect of this enchanting place! Once we work up an appetite, we meet Executive Chef Corrado Corti who prepares a mouthwatering, sustainable local Sea Bass in an Olive, Pine Nut and Thyme reduction! All of the herbs and spices at the Splendido come from the hill up behind the hotel, infusing each dish with the actual flavors of the rich soil and Mediterranean life that grow right there. Then visit with Executive Chef of the Splendido Mare restaurant, Roberto Villa! Roberto prepares a fresh Seafood Salad comprised of Lobster, Shrimp and Langostines, tossed with a variety of Organic greens! Later we take a ride on a water taxi out around the point of Portofino, into a very special cove that can only be reached by water, or via a very long hike from Portofino proper. Here we find an incredible monastery that was built in the 12th century that was ultimately completed in the 14th century! There are honestly no words to convey the sweet mystery that exists in Portofino. Whether it’s the soft sea breeze that confounds all aspects of Portofino’s latitude, or the rich history that surrounds the gulf and cove, this is truly a magical place!
